About Us

We are a family of six here at Brúnastaðir farm: Stefanía Hjördís Leifdóttir and Jóhannes Helgi Ríkharðsson and our four children - Ríkey Þöll, Kristinn Knörr, Ólafur Ísar and Leifur Hlér.  Additionally the family includes on average three foster children at any time as well as hosting intern students from the Agricultural school in Greenland.

In addition to running accommodations for travellers, we keep around 850 sheep, making the autumn a fun time when we herd over 2000 ewes and lambs from the mountains.

On our farm you can find most kinds of Icelandic farm animals: goats, cows and calves, piglets, rabbits as well as horses, dogs, cats and several breeds of hens. Some of these animals are working animals but all of them are family friends.

In the summers we like to plant trees and over the years we have planted over 70.000 trees in an area of 32 hectares.
